Cassandra Lynn Moyer!
*Excerpted from my Livejournal from February 5th 2005*
So Telle's water broke wednesday night, after a day spent making sure she and the baby were fine as she was a week overdue. Everything seemed to just go in slow motion. We went to bed, she got up and lay on the couch because it was softer...she let me sleep until nearly 6am. She was so amazing through the early stages.
Then we got ready to go and drove through rush hour traffic to the birthing center. It was a bit rough in spots, but she was a real trooper and used her hypno-birthing skills to really handle it well.
Once there they checked her. I expected they'd say "yep she's 3-4cm dilated, go for a nice long walk or something, come back in like 2 hours" but you know what? She was already 7cm!! thats half the battle! So we got her into a nice soaking tub and she labored there for another hour and lo and behold, she was ready! She got through the (generally at least) most strength sapping and mentally frustrating parts of labor in a rediculously short time.
Now came the hard part =) pushing that little cherub through! We tried pushing in the tub, because she really wanted a water birth, but things stalled a bit and the mid-wife had us get her into bed so we could check everything. Things were still going well but we needed to get gravity involved, so she got onto a bitrthing stool so she could squat and let everything just pull downward. After another half dozen really hard strong pushes it was over! Our daughter had arrived!
Cassandra Lynn Moyer came into the world at 21 inches long and approximately 8lbs 5 oz in weight. She has the most amazing blue eyes and that pretty sandy blonde hair that her mother dazzles me with. She is strong (hodling her own head up within hours of birth!) and as perfectly healthy as anyone could ask of a newborn babe.
I swear I AM the luckiest man in the world.
