Chris "RendeR" Moyer!
Chris was born a LONG fracking time ago...(ok that was a cheesy intro)
Seriously though. I have lived a long and stunningly chaotic life. Born in north central Pennsylvania and raised by a single mother, I grew up rather isolated. My formative years were spent in a tiny farming community. Life moves slowly in the byways of America.
Growing up I saw some of the most dynamic things happen in this country. I vaguely remember the end of the Vietnam era and al the protesting that went with it on the news. The Star Wars craze, The Big Red Machine, and the development of the video game all happened when i was a young impressionable man.
Cable TV came into being around this time as well and my mother was one of the first to subscribe to this new media system. Let's just say I enjoyed watching the scrambled HBO movies as much as other kids!
The 1980's brought a lot of changes. I went through my troubled period becoming a teenager. I ran away from home, which my classmates found utterly entertaining. High school became the only social gathering that we had. our town being 45 minutes from anything even remotely resembling a city, we looked at school as out only real source of interacting with people our age.
Sports gave me an outlet that I wish i had taken a hold of sooner. Once I got into playing soccer and tennis I really got into high school life much more fully and, it seemed to me at least, that I became far more accepted as a person the more involved I got with things. Society shuns loners. the isolated, independent child is a lonely child.
After high school I enlisted in the United States Navy. Trained as a Nuclear Engineer I first went into the fleet as a standard steam plant operator, or Machinists Mate, by title.
My first ship was the time of my life. We traveled all over the world. Canada, japan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, the Indian Ocean, and on into the persian Gulf as part of Operation Desert Shield/Storm in 1991.
My time on the USS Meyerkord was a typical sailor story. Lots of drinking, lots of parties, living the good life and enjoying every port of call. Unfortunately, as a married man that life didn't do good things for my marriage, which ended a few years later after half a decade of bitterness and alcoholism.
I went on to different commands after the 'kord, but not even the mighty USS Abraham Lincoln could steal my passion for the sea away from my memories of that first ship. In time though, I lost my faith in the Navy, long ugly story and I am NOT going to tell it here, which ended with my discharge in 1993.
The next period of my life is dark, soulless and extremely depressing. My first marriage failed and she took the kids and vanished in 1995. I spent 6 months of that year pretty much inebriated. After that I decided to go back to school. this worked for a year and by that time my drinking and lack of interest in college left me homeless, penniless and sleeping on a friends couch in the middle of nowhere, Pennsylvania.
This is where I started to recover. That friend whose couch kept me warm and dry for a summer paid me enough to buy a run down heap of a Monte Carlo, which then allowed me to travel to virginia where i found employment as a computer technical support rep. this is when life started smiling at me. While working there I kept in touch with friends I'd made over the past two years on the internet. one of those friends became closer and closer until one birthday of mine when she professed that she loved me.
The rest of THAT story is on the other pages of the web site!
Since I met Jeanine my life has gone up and up. her love has carried me to where we are now, a complete and happy family with a long life ahead of us.
There are a ton of details and stories I haven't added here, if you want to know more about me than what this page offers, talk to me!
