The Family Felines
After The rats passed away we spent quite some time without animals in the house. One reason being the apartments we were in didn't allow them until we'd been there for about a year.

upon finding out that we could have cats we went looking at a local shelter. the Stray Pets In Need shelter had a large area in a pet store that housed cats of all types and ages for adoption. We visited often and finally ddecided on an orange tabby that was constantly mewing and his counterpart, a black short hair who was brought in to the shelter with him.

Sam, the orange tabby, was a real talker. I carry on conversations with this cat. he's always got a good loud yowl waiting for JUST the wrong moment. Think: babies are asleep and the cat runs in meowing at the top of his lungs.

Mittens, the black and white shorthair, was always the skittish one. She takes a long time to get used to people. or at least she used to, recently she's been the most accepting and loving when it comes to new people. She even avails herself of the kids no matter how rough they tend to get with her.

We'd had just the two cats for a number of years until a relative went through a seperationg from her husband and she couldn't keep her cat any longer. being the animal lovers we are jeanine and I took in Elvis.

Elvis really is a pretty fitting name. This cat is gorgious. long hair, nearly all white but tinted just a touch towards beige with a few light brown areas. his tail is this giant dust wand that sticks stright up as he walks from room to room.

Most of all: he is the most affectionate and amazingly loving cat i have ever seen. he will literally smother you with affection. If you touch him, he is your best friend and will take a cro0bar to remove from your lap. Even my brother-in-law, who is extremely allergic, simply loves this cat. he gets in his lap and purrs and just melts the poor man's heart. its no wonder he's alwys got puffy eyes and sneezes when he visits.
